PROPOSALS FORM CAN BE FOUND HERE
The Education Committee of the Society for Conservation Biology North America (SCBNA) invites conservation educators to submit proposals for sharing engaging and effective conservation educational modules at our online Conservation Education Forum on August 4-5, 2025. The Conservation Education Forum will connect educators seeking to share and gain pedagogical support for fostering outstanding conservation education practices, and provide space for new connections.
The Forum will span two half days on August 4 & 5, 2025. On August 4, workshop leaders will give brief presentations to showcase their educational modules (30-45 min each). On August 5, workshop leaders will guide participants through the process of applying and customizing the module they presented the previous day to their own educational programs. We anticipate holding a single session that showcases all modules on August 4, followed by 2-3 concurrent sessions that engage participants in the module adoption workshops.
We define a conservation module to be a short set of materials and practices that promote student learning of key concepts, methods, or focal case studies. These might be used for a single class session or for up to a 1-2 week span of a course. Educators would be encouraged to share their materials, including either documents or online components, as well as tips for how to effectively teach these materials.
We are looking for conservation educators in our network and beyond who are interested in preparing and leading a presentation and workshop as outlined above. If this applies to you, please take a moment to complete this brief proposal submission form. As an incentive to participate, we will be offering all those who present at the SCBNA Conservation Education Forum a 50% reduction in registration costs for the upcoming NACCB 2026 to be held in Milwaukee, WI on July 12-16, 2026.
The members of the SCBNA Education Committee will review submissions beginning on April 21, and we will confirm the status of your proposal (accepted or not) by May 2nd.
Thank you for your submission! If you have any questions about this request for proposals, please do not hesitate to reach out.
