Dear SCB Conservation Genetics Working Group Members,
Help shape the future of conservation genetics! We are now accepting self-nominations for two board positions: Treasurer and Secretary. Nominations are due on the 30th of September, 2025.
About the Roles
All board members contribute towards the vision and mission of the SCB Conservation Genetics Working Group. The aim of the CGWG is to promote the incorporation of genetic studies into the wider field of conservation and to improve the way results of genetic studies are communicated to the broader conservation audience. In addition, board members in elected roles fulfill the following duties:
Board Service

New officers first serve as "elect" for up to six months, then transition into their role for a two-year term (~Nov 1, 2025 – Oct 31, 2027).

All board members attend monthly Zoom meetings, co-design and develop working group projects (e.g., developing conference sessions, workshops, conservation genetics resources, or peer-reviewed articles).

Average time commitment: 1-3 hours per month, with increased involvement leading up to SCB conferences or projects.
Eligibility

Applicants must be members of SCB and CGWG. (How to join CGWG)

Conservation researchers (e.g., academics, graduate students) or practitioners (e.g., government employees, NGO representatives) who are interested in the application of genetic data to conservation management and/or policy are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must agree to CGWG by-laws prior to accepting their position.
