Dear SCB North America Members,
Over the last few weeks, we have received reports from some of our members regarding layoffs in the conservation sector (or conservation-adjacent fields) as a result of the current administration's changes to federal policy and ripple effects across local government, the private sector, and nonprofit work. In response, the SCBNA DEI Committee would like to engage our members in developing a new, ongoing conversational thread to promote the sharing of available jobs/professional appointments in our field. We envision the sharing of information to take place using Conservation Connections - our SCB-specific platform - that can be accessed solely by SCB members HERE. No running list of positions or organizations will be maintained (initially) so as to encourage members to share their information without fear of retaliation. Specifically, we are asking members to share the following information on any available positions with others in our network:
-
Hiring organization
-
Location (city, state, country)
-
Position title/description (or link to position)
-
Is the position remote? E.g., fully remote, hybrid, etc.)
-
Relevance of DEI as part of job responsibilities (to account for changes at the federal level)
- Contact information (for any relevant questions)
To share this information, simply start a new thread in Conservation Connections and add the "North America Section Membership" as your intended recipient. We believe this crowdsourcing approach will yield greater interaction amongst members, while also providing relevant/up-to-date opportunities in our field.
We thank you all for taking the time to share any information using the above guidelines, or simply taking the time to share employment opportunities with our membership. If you have any questions about this, please let me know.
Best,
