Announcing Revive, SCB's new working work on wellbeing and resilience!
Join us as a founding member to help us gain provisional status as a working group by completing our form (please ensure your SCB membership is active).
Need of the Moment
Working in the conservation profession is hard on our hearts, minds and bodies. Compassion fatigue and burnout are common among us conservation professionals, and can undermine our conservation effectiveness. Research is finally validating our "eco-emotions" (e.g., feelings of eco-grief, eco-anger, climate change anxiety). Now more than ever, we need to revive ourselves.
Our vision is an inspired, emotionally resilient conservation community where your wellbeing is valued and nourished as a foundational part of our work to protect and restore our planet's biodiversity and ecosystems.
Objectives
The SCB Revive working group will focus on three objectives:
- Develop our understanding of eco-emotions and their impact on us and our work, and strengthen our skills for emotional resilience.
- Create support spaces for us by providing resources, funds and facilitation to improve our access to mental health practitioners and peer-support groups.
- Normalize our emotional response in the conservation workplace to foster a culture of proactive emotional resilience.
