Make a lasting impact on SCB, give back to the conservation community, and help advance the mission and goals of our conservation community when you nominate yourself or someone else to serve on the SCB Global Network Board!

The SCB Governance Committee is accepting nominations through 24 May, 2023.

This year is a big election year. It will be our first year with our new Global Network Board, and will be a very exciting time to lead and serve on the board. We need to elect our next president to lead the Society starting as president-elect in July 2023 for a four-year term -- including two-years as president-elect and two-years as president, who will play a big part in the SCB transition to a truly global network. We also have a Secretary position to fill (4 year term) and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice Officer position to fill (3 year term). We hope that the new GNB members will join us in Rwanda for ICCB 2023 this July.

The President-elect works closely with the president to maintain a consistent vision over the long-term and is responsible for the Global Conference Committee.

The Secretary is responsible for ensuring the effective management of the Global Network Board's minutes and recordings of GNB meetings, tackling GNB action items, ensuring minutes are distributed to GNB members shortly after each meeting, and being sufficiently familiar with legal documents (articles, by-laws, IRS letters, etc.) to note applicability during GNB meetings.

The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice Officer serves on the SCB Executive Committee and chairs the DEIJ Committee. The DEIJ Officer helps to lead Board efforts to carry out their governance responsibilities, leads governance efforts related to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice, and helps the Board and the Managing Director focus on matters of diversity, equity, inclusion and justice across all aspects of SCB.

Serving on the SCB Global Network Board allows you to nurture our global community of conservation scientists and practitioners. We hope that you throw your hat in the ring or nominate someone who you think will make a great leader for SCB. If you're interested, please fill out the Call for Nominations Form.

    New Elections Process
This will be our first year implementing our new elections process that was recently approved in our bylaw revisions. Instead of holding a member-wide vote, SCB's Governance Committee will review the nominations in accordance with the nomination review policy, and present the nominees to the Global Network Board. The GNB will then elect a President-elect, Secretary and DEIJ Officer from the pool of nominees.
