    Dear Colleagues,

The SSWG's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) Committee is currently looking for 2-3 volunteers to work with Board members Saloni Bhatia and Ans Vercammen on implementing the 2025 DEIJ action plan. Duties of the volunteers would include assisting with the data collection plan (design, conducting interviews/administering questionnaires, analysis, writing) to assess DEIJ needs and challenges, and input toward funding and partnership strategies in relation to DEIJ.

The DEIJ committee aims to tackle systemic and structural inequities in conservation by promoting a culture of inclusion, fostering a sense of community, and nurturing an ethic of care to support the needs of students and professionals within the SSWG network. The committee, and the broader SSWG, acknowledge that conservation is a multifaceted social issue that requires representation of and support from a diverse range of actors and perspectives, drawing on expertise from various geographies, backgrounds, disciplines, and sectors.

This is a voluntary, non-remunerative role; however, the SSWG can provide a letter of appreciation for the volunteer's contributions. Additionally, the role offers an opportunity to engage with the SCB/SSWG network and meaningfully contribute to its vision and initiatives, as well as gain hands-on experience with social science methods.

    Eligibility:

    - Must be an SCB member

    - Able to commit 2-3 hours per month, ideally up to the end of the year

    - Prior experience with DEIJ activities or programs is valued but not required

    - Some experience with or interest in social science methods would be ideal
