Dear members of SCB North America,

We have partnered with the American Society of Naturalists (ASN) to survey the impacts of federal policies since January 20, 2025 on science and scientists in the fields of ecology, evolution, marine science, and environmental science. Your participation in this survey is voluntary.

The second part consists of an optional open-ended response question, where participants can share details of specific impacts that they have firsthand experience with. Narratives will be separated from responses to previous questions, any identifying information will be removed, and the resulting text will be qualitatively analyzed by generalizing the impacts of federal and state policies on science and scientists. You will have the option to give us permission to quote your narrative anonymously when publicizing the results of the survey.

This is a longitudinal survey that will be confidentially distributed every 4-8 months. Your participation is voluntary. Your part in this study will be handled in a confidential manner, and you must be at least 18 years old and based in the U.S. to participate. Any reports or publications will only use aggregated group data.  The survey and methods have been approved by the Institutional Review Board at Northeastern University IRB# 25-03-14.
