Dear SCB North America Members,
Please see the below arts and science workshop opportunity from colleagues at the University of Washington:
MARINE SCIENCE, OCEAN ARTS: INTERDISCIPLINARY, INTERTIDAL INTERDEPENDENT
WHAT IS THIS? An integrative workshop to address the ocean emergency. Participants will acquire rigorous skills in scientific and arts inquiry and expression, will pursue individual and collaborative interdisciplinary projects, and will emerge with a showcase work. Bring a project or idea to develop, or be inspired to start a new one. Ecopoetics + artivism = synergy.
WHY SHOULD I REGISTER? Because science needs arts and arts need science. Collaborating deepens our embodied and emotionally intelligent understanding and communication of the issues that are most important to us.
WHO'S COMING? This experiential workshop is co-facilitated by experienced educators and practitioners Dr. Marjorie Wonham (marine biology) and Dr. Astrida Neimanis (environmental arts). Participants are biologists, artists, and interdisciplinary practitioners and scholars; they are faculty, researchers, educators, and graduate students. Advanced undergraduates may also apply.
WHEN? July 6-27, 2025
WHERE? Friday Harbor Laboratories, Salish Sea, USA.
HOW? Apply by March 1! All applicants considered for scholarships!
