1. Training course 13 - Your research journey: from research design to paper publication.

This course is being organized jointly by the SCB Africa Region Education Program and the Tropical Biology Association (TBA). It will be taught by Dr. Israel Borokini and Prof. Rosie Trevelyan, the Director of TBA. Coffee, snacks, and lunch are provided. 2. Workshop for Young Women in Conservation Biology (YWCB)

Venue: 0R07 Muhabura Building at the University of Rwanda
Time: 1:00 - 5:00 pm
This course is organised by Dr. Janette Wallis, an SCB Africa Region Board member and Director of the YWCB. The workshop will focus on addressing the various needs of women in the early stages of their careers in Conservation Biology. Participation is not limited to young African women. Food is provided and pre-registration is required. Contact Janette Wallis for more information.

4. Africa Diaspora Biodiversity Symposium 2.0

Following the success of the first ADBS during the North America congress for conservation biology 2022 and IUCN African Park Congress 2022, we are organizing a second version of this symposium at ICCB 2023! It is jointly organized by the SCB Africa Region and the Africa Biodiversity Collaborative Group (ABCG). It is being planned as a roundtable discussion with four panelists including Dr. Jessica Torrence-Spence (USAID Africa Bureau Office of Sustainable Development), Dr. Kevin Njabo (Africa Director, Center for Tropical Research, UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability), Dr. Tuyeni Mwampamba (one of the ICCB plenary speakers, former Section Board member, ICCB 2021 Steering Committee member and Co-Chair of Scientific Committee, and Professor at UNAM, Mexico), and Rubina James (Director, ABCG). You are all invited to this discussion to facilitate collaboration between Africa Diaspora and resident African experts. Lunch will be provided.
