About the LACA Region

The Latin America and Caribbean Region was formed in 2003 to unite conservation efforts in Central and South America. As part of the Society for Conservation Biology, the Region aims to bolster abilities of its members to facilitate conservation efforts in this region.

The LACA Region is proud to have hosted three regional meetings and two International Congresses.

LACA hosted the inaugural Latin America and Caribbean Congress for Conservation Biology (LACCCB 2018) in Trinidad and Tobago, and its second regional congress, LACCCB 2020, in Puebla Mexico. The third regional congress was jointly presented with the Mesoamerican Society for Biology and Conservation, Mexico in 2022

LACA first hosted ICCB in 2005 at the Universidade de Brasilia, Brasilia, Brazil and then again in 2017 in Cartagena, Colombia. LACA will proudly host the 2031 ICCB.
